Yolo County Fire Safe Council Seeks Capay Valley Community Input for CWPP

Capay Valley residents from West Esparto to Rumsey are invited to attend a community workshop on August 11th at 7 PM at Guinda’s Western Yolo Grange Hall to provide input on Yolo County’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). A CWPP is a collaborative plan developed to help communities reduce wildfire risk and facilitate fire adapted communities. This countywide planning document is created by local fire departments and governments, land managers, and residents. CWPPs are designed to address unique conditions, values, and priorities within a community related to wildfire risk reduction and resilience. Developing and implementing a CWPP is beneficial for local communities because its creation enables access to funding sources for fuels reduction work, defensible space projects, and community education.

This workshop is being led by the Yolo County Fire Safe Council, The Capay Valley Fire Protection District Fire Safe Council/CVERA, and ForEverGreen Forestry. The CWPP is being created by the Yolo County FSC and the Yolo County Office of Emergency Services and will be approved by state and local fire jurisdictions.

Join us on August 11th at 7 PM at Guinda’s Grange Hall to provide your input and help build wildfire resilience in the Capay Valley and broader Yolo County! We hope to see you there!
