Yolo County Weed Management Area – February 2026 Meeting
The Yolo County Weed Management Area (YCWMA) promotes and coordinates efforts toward the management and control of the County’s noxious weeds through education and cooperation with landowners, agencies, organizations, and the general public. The group is led by the Yolo County Department of Agriculture and the Yolo County Resource Conservation District (Yolo County RCD).
The YCWMA hosts meetings to bring together restoration and weed management professionals to share resources and provide education on emerging and problem-invasive weeds. The next YCWMA meeting is on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 2:30 pm to 4:05 pm at the Yolo County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (34274 State Highway 16 Woodland, CA 95695-9371).

3:00-3:20PM Justin M. Valliere, PhD Assistant Professor of Cooperative Extension/Invasive Weed & Restoration Ecology: Using data on weed treatment history and long-term monitoring data to drive the outcomes of weed management; an example from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
3:20-3:40 Mohsen B. Mesgaran, PhD, Associate Professor | Department of Plant Sciences, UC Davis: A new weed tracking tool: Google Weed View AI enables low-cost tracking of invasive johnsongrass.
3:40-4:00 Miles Daprato, Putah Creek Riparian Reserve Steward, UC Davis: Effective control for tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) in the Sacramento Valley.
4:00-4:05 Tanya Meyer, YCRCD/YCWMA: Using the Calflora YCWMA Group; set next meeting; DPR forms; other topics for future meetings.
