The Community Wildfire Resilience Program was created after the RCD witnessed an increase in wildfire activity in the western County. Thanks to funding from CAL FIRE and the California Fire Safe Council, the RCD coordinates the Yolo County Fire Safe Council and spearheaded the Yolo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). With input from the community and fire officials, the CWPP outlines a list of priority projects to support fuels management and community and resource protection from wildfire, including projects like the Yolo Prescribed Burn Association.

The main function of the Yolo County Fire Safe Council will be to provide support for wildfire prevention, wildfire response, and post-fire recovery efforts by implementing priority projects identified in the Yolo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
