The Yolo County Fire Safe Council (YCFSC) met for its monthly meeting on June 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The council heard from Yolo County Office of Emergency Services with updates about Early Action Funding and the fuels reduction projects planned for Western Yolo County. Currently, the fuels reduction projects in Winters, CA have secured permitting guidance and Yolo OES is awaiting Yolo County Counsel response on Right of Entry forms. Additionally, YCFSC heard from Yolo County Resource Conservation District with an update on the Grants and Award Tracking spreadsheet. Most notably, West Winters Fire Safe Council in partnership with Winters Fire Department submitted a grant to the California Fire Foundation for first responder focused informational signage to be placed in West Winters. More updates from YCRCD concerned the two YCFSC programs running in the high fire areas of Western Yolo County. RCD staff provided updates on The Neighborhood Chipper Program and the Reflective Address Sign Program as well as a progress report on the YCFSC website design process. This month’s meeting featured a guest speaker from CALFIRE, Chief Shane Galvez who provided information on the FirewiseUSA Communities.
