July Fire Safe Council Meeting Updates

The Yolo County Fire Safe Council met for its monthly meeting on July 27, 2022 from 4 to 5:30 PM. The Fire Safe Council heard updates from Yolo County Office of Emergency Services, Yolo County RCD, and community Fire Safe Councils throughout Yolo and Solano counties. Be sure to check out the meeting recording for a full rundown of upcoming grant/funding opportunities and other relevant YCFSC updates!

Notable updates came from West Winters Fire Safe Council (WWFSC), Pleasants Valley Fire Safe Council, and Solano Resource Conservation District. WWFSC alongside Winters Fire Department received a $5,000 grant from the California Fire Foundation for a signage program that would aid firefighters and first responders during wildfires. The signs, equipped with QR codes, would allow emergency officials to view maps and other local information to aid in evacuation and firefighting. Pleasants Valley Fire Safe Council announced their Firewise Community Certification- a nationally recognized certification that signifies resident commitment to wildfire resilience and reduction. Solano RCD announced the launch of their own countywide Solano County Fire Safe Council. They held their inaugural meeting after the YCFSC meeting on July 27th at 6 PM.
