Map Resources
The Yolo County RCD maintains an archive of aerial photographs for Yolo County from the years 1964 and 1984. The Yolo County Farm Service Agency, located in an adjacent office within the same building, has aerial photographs from the 1990s. Historic imagery can be obtained from the UC Davis Map Collection. More recent aerial photographs can be printed by the NRCS; digital maps may be purchased from the USDA or downloaded from several online resources, listed below.
The Yolo County RCD Mobile Water Lab provides soil and irrigation system pressure maps through its free irrigation evaluations.
Additionally, growers can produce their own maps using a variety of online resources:
- California Soil Resource Lab: Online Soil Survey
- Google Earth (SketchUp may be used in conjunction with Google Earth imagery)
California Spatial Information Library (CaSIL)- Provides geographic data for the state of California.
Note: CaSIL is primarily for technical GIS users.
